How to Donate Instruments

Ear Candy is No Longer Collecting Instruments at Fire Stations in 2012

Online Instrument Drives® Coming in Early 2012

In order to attain maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the Instrument Drive® Program, Ear Candy is leveraging technology to transition from physical donations sites to an Online Instrument Drive® system.

The Online Instrument Drive system will enable music teachers to post instrument requests online, and instrument donors to browse those requests and select the program they would like their instrument to support. To ensure all instruments are ready to be placed into the hands of a child, every instrument is shipped to a central location to be cleaned and repaired, if necessary. The process is designed to be simple and easy to use for donor and teacher alike, and to create a meaningful connection between the donor and the music program.

Online Instrument Drives® will launch in the Phoenix metropolitan area in early 2012. We will test and refine the system locally, and then expand access to the system throughout the state of Arizona by the end of the year.

That means we are NO LONGER collecting instruments at Fire Stations in 2012

If you would like to donate an instrument prior to the launch of Online Instrument Drives®, you can drop it off at the Ear Candy Office (Map),  located in the ASU Community Services Building, Lower Level, 200 East Curry Road, Tempe AZ 85281 between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

OR

You conatact us at info@EarCandyCharity.Org and help us beta test the new system! Just email us with your contact information and the type of instrument you would like to donate, and we will get back to you with instructions.

As we transition into this AWESOME new Online Instrument Drive model, we’ve had to make some changes. Unfortunately, due to logistics of the new system, we can no longer accept the following instruments:

·  Piano
·  Drums
·  Keyboard
·  Guitars (Acoustic, Electric, Bass)
·  Recorder
·  Banjo
·  Ukulele
·  Mandolin
·  Upright Bass

We greatly value all of these instruments and know many classrooms have a need for them, but could you imagine boxing up a baby grand piano and shipping it?! Yeah, we haven’t been able to figure that one out yet either. We’re hoping to come up with a way to handle these logistical issues soon. But until then, if you have any of these instruments that you would like to donate, we strongly suggest you check out craigslist.org, usachurch.com, or doing a Google search to find community or faith based groups in your neighborhood in need of your instrument.  Thank you for your generosity and interest in helping Ear Candy provide youth access to music education! Please check back in the future, as we will be adding some of these very important musical instruments to our accepted list as we further.

Thanks!
