Calexico - BackStage Class Sound Check and Meet and Greet

On February 4, twenty students attended the Calexico sound check, concert and were able to have an intimate question/answer session with Joey Burns, the band’s leader. The field trip took place at Corona Ranch in South Phoenix, a historic venue for the Latino community. This concert was made possible by Local First Arizona, State Side Presents and individual donations through Ear Candy Charity.

Ultimate Social Distortion Auction Giveaway

X 103.9 and Social Distortion helped Ear Candy raise money for music education by auctioning off the ULTIMATE Social Distortion prize package.... two tickets to their SOLD OUT show at the Marquee Theatre on November 23, access for two to attend a private acoustic performance inside Sanderson Ford Studio X, and a 2009 Fall Frenzy Guitar signed by Mike Ness of Social D, Flogging Molly, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, Airborne Toxic Event, Authority Zero & more.

Elton John and Leon Russell Concert - BackStage Class Tickets

Live Nation donated tickets to Ear Candy for the Elton John and Leon Russell concert at US Airways Arena on November sixth. Students from Phoenix Youth at Risk, Arizona Quest for Kids, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Phoenix Conservatory of Music, and Ear Candy’s Youth Rock Ensemble attended the concert.

40 Tickets were donated by the Jonas Brothers and Live Nation for the Jonas Brothers Concert on 9/14/2010 at Cricket Pavilion. 20 Kids attended from Phoenix Youth at Risk, Big Brothers Big Sisters and AZ Quest for Kids organizations.

10 lucky youth were invited for a special tour of the Mesa Center for the Arts and an evening with legendary jazz guitarist, composer, and Grammy Winner, Pat Metheny.

Here is what educator Sam Everett had to say about the night: "Thank you so much for the opportunity to let the students get introduced to a performer such as Pat Metheny. It was so nice for the kids to see backstage and how things work. Our tour guide really gave a sense to how concerts and events are put together. He gave the students something to think about as they watched the concert. Sheehan was especially nice in guiding the students and asking questions to get to know them a little better. I am going to have my students write up a thank you letter to Ear Candy. Thanks again for all Ear Candy does to help these kids get special opportunities like this one."

EAR CANDY Governing Board Member Greg White had the time of his life meeting Alice In Chains on 2/17/10 at the Dodge Theater for an exclusive look at the band's amplified sound check. They autographed an electric guitar to be used in a future auction to support Ear Candy's mission.

Widespread Panic

EAR CANDY Live Nation and Creamy Radio teamed up with Widespread Panic to maximize the band's stop at the Dodge Theater on 11/4.

Online Auction - The winner of the auction was able to come see the received 4 passes to the band's Sound Check, 4 Tickets and someexclusive Widespread Merchandise.

Sound Check - The band also allowed Ear Candy an opportunity to invite some kids to the Sound Check as well which was an amazing experience to have these kids see legends play to an empty 5,000 person venue!

Official Pre-Party - Creamy Radio did an amazing job of putting together a really fun Pre-Party at Seamus McCaffrey's . We held a drawing for all sorts of Widespread, Creamy Radio and Ear Candy gear which raised some funds for our cause. Creamy Radio put together an awesome write up together, check it out HERE!

We had a lot going on for this show and we want to send a heartfelt thank you to the Peacemakers, their entire support team and Lucky Man for making this a massive success!!!

RCPM Opening Band Competition - Ear Candy and MyStudio hosted an online competition to pick the top 4 bands which battled live at the Sail Inn for an opening slot on Halloween at the Marquee Theater.

Radio Take Over - On Friday 10/30 Roger took over FM 103.9 The Edge for an hour invited Ear Candy Founder Nate Anderson into the studio to chime in on Ear Candy and the Competition.

Sound Check - Ear Candy hosted an online auction for passes to the band's Sound Check on 10/30. The fans LOVED the experience, check out the picture above.

Silent Auction - Throughout both nights at the Marquee Theater, Ear Candy hosted a silent auction for a signed Peacemakers guitar which was a huge success!

Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke & Lenny White are jazz legends and Ear Candy had the honor of bringing 25 students and teachers from music programs we have supported to tour the gorgeous Orpheum Theatre before their show on 9/12/09. The show was beyond impressive and inspired all of the Ear Candy jazz students. After the set, the kids and teachers has the pleasure of meeting the players in person back stage, what an experience!!! Thanks to Live Nation for providing the tickets and access to the venue.

Nickelback is one of the best selling bands in the past decade and the band supported our mission by donating the Ultimate Nickelback Fan Package which included a signed electric guitar, a special meet and greet with the band, and a pair of tickets to their packed show at the Jobing.com Arena on 9/8/09. Thanks to Live Nation for connecting us with artist as well as 93.3 KDKB for the tickets and support of the online auction.

The Fray

The Fray are a multi-platinum selling artists who have been blowing up all over the country!!! Ear Candy was honored to be invited to their sound check on 7/14/09 before they took the stage at the Dodge Theater. We were able to invite 25 kids from our music programs with 1in10 and the Boys and Girls Club to experience a private concert with no one else in the venue!!! The kids had an opportunity to meet the band, get an autograph and snap pictures with real rock stars!!! Ear Candy auctioned off the guitar at 944 Magazine’s Anniversary Party on 8/28/09 and the funds will be used to help start a music program at the Scottsdale Public Library’s Teen Center. Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Legends, help support Ear Candy by letting us host an Instrument Drive at their concert at Jobing.com Arena on 6/26/2009. The Artists gave Ear Candy a pair of PREMIER tickets to auction off online as well as a collection of great merchandise packs which the Ear Candy Team raffled off at the show. Fresh off their best-selling album Only By The Night, The Kings of Leon came to Arizona to play an amazing show at the Mesa Amphitheatre on 5/19/09. Moments before the concert Ear Candy had an opportunity to meet the band and get a guitar signed by the Fallowhill Boys which we auctioned off online with the help of our friends FM 103.9 The Edge.

Rolling Stone Magazine named Tom Morello the 26th Greatest Guitarists of ALL TIME and we know why! His impressive resume includes epic work with Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, The Nightwatchman, and The Street Sweeper Social Club. We met up with the legend on 4/3/09 at Day 2 of the Tempe Music Festival and were able to get a guitar signed that was auctioned off online in conjunction with his show at FM103.9’s Third Thursday Monthly show in Old Town Scottsdale. Thank you to Fender for donating the brand new Stratocaster and FM 103.9 The Edge for access to Mr. Morello.

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy has made a very impressive mark on the music industry since kick starting their career years ago in Chicago. The boys were in town for a show at Mesa Amphitheatre on 4/3/09 and one of our Ear Candy Advocates caught up with the band before they blew the crowd away to get a guitar signed. Ear Candy auctioned off the guitar at 944 Magazine’s Anniversary Party on 8/28/09 and the funds will be used to help start a music program at the Scottsdale Public Library’s Teen Center. Our thanks to Alex LoSardo for helping get the guitar signed!!!
